KATHMANDU: Expressing serious dissatisfaction with the agreement between the government and the authorities of Nepal Teachers’ Federation, government teachers under relief teacher’s category today continued their protest at Maitighar Mandala in Kathmandu.

Relief teachers stage whistleblowing protest on Maitighar-Baneshwor road demanding fulfillment of their demands.

There are around 40,000 relief teachers in the country who are either selected by a particular school management committee or by the local levels to fulfil teachers’ requirements in government schools.

Government teachers are to be selected by the Teachers Service Commission under the federal government.

The Teachers Service Commission, under the federal government, is responsible for selecting government teachers; however, due to delays in conducting examinations, many vacancies in public schools remain unfilled.

The relief teachers continued their demonstration saying that although there was an agreement between the government and the teachers union on 6 points, it did not amend their demands.

They said that they will continue the protest until the teachers’ federation fulfills their demands.
