KATHMANDU: During the Yanaya (Indrajatra) time, traffic on several Kathmandu highways will be disrupted beginning from Ashoj 11.

The Kathmandu Metropolitan City has issued a notice regarding traffic management during Yanaya (Indra Jatra), and vehicles are prohibited from operating via Basantapur, Maru, Chingkamugal, Jaisedeval, Lagan, Brahmatol, Humat, Kohiti, Bhimsensthan, Maru, and up to Basantapur on Ashoj 11 (Sept 28).

On Ashoj 12 (Sept 29), it is prohibited to operate vehicles in Basantapur, Pyaphal, Yatkha, Naradevi, Tengal, Nhyokha, Nhektala, Asan, Machhindrabhal, Indrachok, Makhan, Hanuman Dhoka in Basantpur area, while on Ashoj 15 (Oct 2), Basantpur, Pyaphal, Yatkha, Naradevi, It is said that driving is prohibited in Basantpur area via Kilagh, Bhedasin, Indrachok, Makhan.

According to the metropolis, the cultural, social, and religious events of this Jatra will be carried out on foot because it has evolved into a festival of cultural, historical, and archeological significance focused on Basantapur.

Furthermore, the Metropolitan Municipality has recommended that passengers who must travel by that route avoid automobiles from entering specified areas to aid in traffic management by using an alternate route or walking.
