Mugu jeep accident: death toll reaches five

Police claims that four of the deceased are from Humla and one is from Soru Rural Municipality.

KATHMANDU: The death toll in the Mugu Jeep accident has reached five.

Deputy Superintendent of Police in Mugu, Mahesh Basnet, informed that a jeep (Ga 1 Ja 7762) heading to Mugu from Shorukot met an accident at Sipkopahira of Mugu on Monday evening.

He claims that four of the deceased are from Humla and one is from Soru Rural Municipality.

There were nine passengers including driver in the jeep. DSP Basnet further said, “Those killed ones are Ram Pariyar from Sharkegad Rural Municipality-2 and Prakash Bohara from Simkot Rural Municipality-2. Full identify of three others is yet to be established.”

Two died on the spot while two others breathed their last during treatment at Tarapani Basic Health Post and one died on the way while bringing the headquarters to Gamgarhi.

Three passengers including driver were injured seriously in the incident, DSP Basnet said, adding that they were in need of better treatment for serious injury.
