Rain due to the effect of monsoon wind in Nepal, where is the risk?

KATHMANDU: Since the low-pressure line of monsoon is north of Sardar (closer to the mountainous terrain of Nepal), it will rain in many parts of the country today.

Monsoon activity has become active due to the effect of water vapour-rich air coming from the Bay of Bengal.

According to the Department of Water and Meteorology, it is completely cloudy in the country this morning.

Light to moderate rain is occurring in a few places in the hilly areas of all the provinces and few places in the remaining areas.

In the afternoon, it will be normal to completely cloudy over the country. According to the department, there is a possibility of light to moderate rain in many places of Karnali and Sudurpaschim States and some places in the rest of the land.

There is a possibility of heavy to very heavy rain with thunder and lightning in some places of Karnali and Sudurpaschim States and few places of Gandaki and Lumbini States as well as in one or two places of the rest of the States.

According to the department, tonight will be normal to completely cloudy across the country. There is a possibility of light to moderate rain in some places of Koshi and Sudurpaschim States and a few places in the remaining States.

There is a possibility of heavy to very heavy rain with thunder and lightning in some places of Karnali and Sudurpaschim States and a few places in Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini States. There is also a possibility of very heavy rain in one or two places of the Sudurpaschim States.

According to the department, due to heavy and very heavy rains, the water level of rivers will rise, gegran flows, floods, landslides, and erosion may occur, and public health, agriculture, daily life, road and air transport may be affected.
