KATHMANDU: The Public Procurement Monitoring Office will operate a procurement clinic.

As public procurement is a complicated and technical topic, the clinic’s goal is to build the capacity of procurement units and human resources involved in procurement, as well as to solve problems related to public procurement.

Secretary Dr. Damodar Regmi announced that the interactive program ‘Procurement Clinic’ would be held to convey the obstacles that participants have in the area of public procurement, and experts will advise them on how to overcome those problems.

He said, ‘Procurement clinic is a successful international practice and since this method can be used to develop the capacity of the human resources involved in procurement, a procurement clinic will soon be conducted for local and provincial employees.’

Since the public procurement process is a technical topic with complicated legislation, the office is doing its homework to simplify this complexity by creating clear instructions.

A simple guide will be developed as quickly as possible to tackle the challenges encountered by provincial and municipal level offices, in addition to the federal office.

Dr. Regmi, Secretary of State, stated that extensive electronic procurement training will be provided to strengthen procurement capabilities at the province and municipal levels.
