President Poudel returned the amnesty file of Resham Chaudhary

KATHMANDU: President Ram Chandra Poudel has returned to the Ministry of Home Affairs the file sent for amnesty to Tikapur incident culprit Resham Chaudhary.

President Poudel forwarded the government’s request for amnesty to Chaudhary, who was sentenced to life in prison, to the Ministry of Home Affairs on Friday.

The President’s Office has returned the file to the Ministry of Home Affairs to be handled in line with the law in respect to Resham Chaudhary’s amnesty, the court’s verdict, and the Supreme Court’s principle.

At addition, the President’s Office has forwarded to the Ministry of Home Affairs the appeal submitted by Sharada Bohara, the wife of Police Inspector Keshav Bohra, who was slain at Tikapur.

On Friday, a petition was submitted with the President’s Office claiming that the Supreme Court will grant amnesty to Chaudhary, who had been sentenced to life in prison.

Sharada Bohara, the wife of Tikapur police officer Keshav Bohra, who was slain in the event, petitioned the President.

The victim objected after the government moved forward with the amnesty process on Jestha 15 (May 29).

Seven police officers and a minor were slain in the Tikapur tragedy.
