Nabil offers workplace violence & harassment prevention training, 70 employees participated

KATHMANDU: Nabil Bank has completed a workshop for its employees on workplace violence and harassment.
The purpose of the workshop held on the occasion of International Women’s Day is to raise awareness about violence that may occur in the workplace, the bank said.
The event was organized in collaboration with the organization Fight-Back for 70 employees.
This program was attended by both male and female bank employees, with branches throughout the valley participating on-site and branches from all states participating online.
What is workplace violence and harassment by program employees? How can such activities be carried out in the workplace?
There was detailed information provided on how to be cautious to avoid such activities and how to protect yourself if such activities occur at work.
Gyanendra Prasad Dhungana, Chief Executive Officer of Nabil Bank, stated that this type of informative program is beneficial in raising employee morale and dealing with societal issues.
He stated that Nabil Bank will continue such programs in the future to boost employee morale.
Riya Basnet, a participant, stated that the program provided useful information about Nepal’s legal system, methods of resistance and self-defense in the event of violence, and how to use your possessions as tools.
‘I expected to learn only self-defense techniques in this class, but I ended up learning a variety of useful skills.
For example, I learned how to present yourself in the event of sexual violence or abuse, how to protect yourself, and how to use your voice as a tool. ‘It’s given me more confidence,’ she says.
Diwash Karki, Human Resources Head at Nabil Bank, stated that this one-day training was held for bank employees on Women’s Day, keeping in mind the violence that can occur in our office and in our society on a daily basis.
He stated that the participants’ feedback that the program was more useful than expected gave him the confidence to do similar programs in the future.
He stated that the safety of the employees is the first priority, and that participants in such programs have increased their self-confidence by knowing what level of vigilance to maintain to prevent incidents of violence, as well as what methods to employ for self-defense if such activities occur.
