KATHMANDU: Dr. Rupak Sapkota has been appointed as Foreign Affairs Advisor to Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda.

Who is Dr Rupak Sapakkota?

Dr. Rupak Sapkota is the son of former Speaker and CPN-Maoist leader Agni Prasad Sapkota.

Dr. Rupak Sapkota is a well-known international relations and foreign affairs expert.

He is a Tribhuvan University professor of international relations and diplomacy. In addition, he has been carrying out his duties as a member of Tribhuvan University’s International Relations and Diplomacy Committee.

He has a thorough understanding of international relations, geopolitics, foreign policy, national security, and strategic issues.

Dr. Sapkota served as the Deputy Executive Director of the Foreign Affairs Studies Institute, a key think tank of the Nepalese government, from November 2019 to October 2021.

Dr. Sapkota has authored numerous articles on geopolitical, foreign, and strategic issues.

He has also co-written and edited a number of books. His research articles have also appeared in a number of prestigious international journals.

Dr. Sapkota received a master’s degree in international affairs from Renmin University in Beijing, China, in 2018. Dr. Sapkota has also worked as a senior scholar and research fellow at various universities around the world. Dr. Sapkota is fluent in the Chinese language.
