KATHMANDU: Shyam Karki, an international video journalist who has been making Nepali and foreign documentary films for the past 20 years, recently won the best documentary award at the international film festival held in Mauritius.

The festival drew over 100 documentary filmmakers from various countries, including Nepal.

‘Dadelo (Wildfire)’, produced under the banner of Samson Film Production, has participated in more than 30 film festivals in India and abroad so far.

The documentary came second in the climate change category of the recently concluded Kathmandu Mountain Film Festival (KIMFF).

This documentary received an Honorable Mention Award at the Australian Film Festival (Dare to Struggle).

Similarly, it was successful in getting the documentary (Special Mention Award) in the Nepal-America Film Festival.

This documentary covers topics such as the impact of rare animals such as the red panda when 70 fires rage in Nepal’s forests in 2021, as well as the impact of climate change on animal and human life.
