Actor Paul Shah acquitted by High Court

Shah's lawyer, Kamala Mohan Wagle, confirmed that Shah had been acquitted of all charges and would be released the next day.

POKHARA: The Pokhara High Court acquitted actor Purna Bikram Shah, also known as Paul Shah, of a rape charge on Sunday.

The High Court of Pokhara acquitted him, ruling that the claims of the Nawalpur Public Prosecutor’s Office were insufficient.

Shah was acquitted by a joint bench of Justices Dilliraj Acharya and Sridharakumari Pudasaini. In the case of rape of a minor singer, a complaint was filed against Shah in Tanahun and Nawalpur.

Although he was acquitted by the Tanahun district court, Nawalpur sentenced him to two and a half years in prison for child molestation. Paul filed an appeal with the Pokhara High Court.

Following the hearing on Sunday, Registrar Srilal Paudel informed the court that the claim filed by the Public Prosecutor’s Office against him was insufficient, and the decision was made to release him.

Shah, who is serving a sentence for child sexual abuse, has been acquitted by the Pokhara High Court.
