KATHMANDU: Following the death of football legend Pele, Brazil has entered three days of mourning.

The 82-year-old, the only player to win the World Cup three times, died this morning after a long battle with cancer.

World leaders, athletes, and entertainers have all paid tribute to Pele.

He is widely regarded as one of the most well-known and popular football players in history. Pele played in four World Cups, three of which he won.

He appeared in 14 games in 1958, 1962, and 1970, scoring 12 goals. He also scored 1,281 goals in 1,363 games during his professional career.

Pele was born on Oct 23, 1940, and passed away on Dec 29, 2022.

For over 60 years, Pele’s name has been synonymous with soccer.

He played in four World Cups and is the only player in history to have won three of them, but his legacy extended far beyond his trophies and goal-scoring record.
