Biplav leader who called for election boycott arrested

KATHMANDU: Sharad Oli, a key member of the CPN led by Netra Bikram Chand ‘Biplav,’ was apprehended in East Nawalparasi.

He was arrested on Thursday in Basantpur, Madhyabindu Municipality, while calling for a boycott of the Nov 20 elections.

Along with Oli, CPN district secretary Ganga Gyawali and district member Arjun Thagunna have been arrested, according to the police.

They were arrested on the basis of information that they were walking with a cultural program and an election boycott program as part of the Samana Jagran campaign, according to the District Police Office Kawasoti. Oli is also the CPN Nawalparasi district chairperson.
