KATHMANDU: Sandeep Lamichhane’s detention hearing has been rescheduled for tomorrow (friday). The hearing in the case against cricketer Sandeep Lamichhane has been rescheduled for Friday after it was not completed on Thursday. Eight advocates debated on Sandeep’s behalf on Thursday.

A statement was made on Tuesday in the rape case filed against cricketer Sandeep Lamichhane in Kathmandu District Court on Oct 31. In the detention hearing, which began on Wednesday, 17 people have already debated, including 4 government lawyers and 11 advocates. After the closed detention hearing in the courtroom of Kathmandu District Court Judge Madhav Prasad Ghimire has not been completed, it has now been put on hold until Friday.

At the detention hearing on Wednesday, four government lawyers and three advocates argued on behalf of the plaintiff Nepal government. On behalf of the Government of Nepal, District Attorneys Laxman Upadhyay Ghimire, Mahesh Prasad Khatri, Krishna Bhandari, and Assistant District Attorney Surbir Pariyar debate. Similarly, senior advocates Shashi Adhikari and Sunita Regmi, as well as advocate Shanti Kafle, debate for the plaintiff.

Murari Sapkota and Roshani Poudel argue on the defendant’s behalf. After adjourning all other hearings in the pending case, only Sandeep’s case was debated on Thursday. In Thursday’s debate, senior advocates Raman Kumar Shrestha, Luv Kumar Mainali, Krishna Prasad Sapkota, and Sabita Baral Bhandari, as well as advocates Subash Pathak, Samar Rijal, Prabin Subedi, and Anurag Subedi, finished their debate. According to Kathmandu District Court sources, there are still some advocates left in the detention hearing.

The defendant has claimed that the girl was born on May 18, 2061 (31 May, 2004).

On Sept 7, Sandeep was charged with raping a 17-year-old girl at the Kathmandu Inn in Sinamangal from the night of Aug 21 to the morning of Aug 22.

Sandeep had traveled in Jamaica to play in the Caribbean League at the time of the complaint. epal Police also issued a diffusion notice against Sandeep after he escaped without playing the game after being reported to the police. After the police issued a diffusion notice, Sandeep arrived in Kathmandu on Oct 6. Following that, he was arrested and investigated by the police.

Sandeep was investigated by the police after a complaint that he had raped a 17-year-old minor girl.
