Ballot papers transported to Jumla by NA helicopter

KATHMANDU: The Nepali Army (NA) helicopter delivered the ballot papers to Jumla. The Election Commission (EC) helicoptered the ballot papers from Surkhet to Jumla. According to Rabin Thapa, Ganapati of Nepali Army’s Nandabox Gana, Nepali Army helicopters carried ballot papers twice on Wednesday.

He stated that the ballot paper had to be delivered by helicopter due to the destruction of the Karnali highway. Ballot paper reached Surkhet by car from Kathmandu, and the work of transporting to Jumla from Surkhet by helicopter begun. According to Bishnu Prasad Gautam, Chief Electoral Officer and District Judge of Jumla, 151,000 proportional ballot papers arrived in Jumla on Wednesday by helicopter from Surkhet, the capital of Karnali State, in coordination with the Election Commission.

According to him, 77,000 ballot papers for the House of Representatives proportional representation and 74,000 for the State Assembly proportional representation have been collected and secured.

Four thousand proportional votes are yet to come. The direct ballots will be delivered by helicopter on Thursday, according to Chief Electoral Officer Gautam. 76,000 ballots for the House of Representatives, 41,000 for the State Assembly (A), and 36,000 for the State Assembly (B) have been requested in Jumla, and will be delivered by helicopter from Surkhet on Thursday.

According to Mahesh Sharma, Head of the District Election Office, there will be 68,638 voters in the Jumla elections on November 20. There are 36,773 in State (A) and 31,850 in State (B) (B).
