KATHMANDU: The body of Hilaree Nelson, the world-famous ski mountaineer who went missing in the Manaslu mountain, was discovered on Monday.

Yuvraj Khatiwada, Director of Tourism, announced today that the body of Hilaree, a 49-year-old American climber who went missing while skiing in Manaslu, was discovered. Her body has been brought to Kathmandu.

Hilaree was lost in Bhimthang towards Manang.

Hilaree’s body, which was found covered in snow, was rescued by the guides who came for the climb.

Hilaree, who skied from the peak of Cho Oyu Mountain in 2005, holds a record for skiing down from two mountains higher than 8,000 meters, including Lhotse.

Hillaree was named a brave athlete by National Geographic in 2018.
