In Pics: Number of people leaving valley for Dashain up

Millions of people leave the valley every year to observe Dasai, the main festival of Nepali. This year Dussehra has already started and those living in the capital due to various reasons are slowly returning.

The government does not have official statistics on how many citizens leave the valley during the main festival. But it is estimated that 2 million people will leave Kathmandu by land and air routes.

There is a rush of passenger vehicles on the valley crossings from the land route. There seems to be some difficulty in traffic management due to the pressure of passengers and vehicles.
