Talchowk-Begnas road becoming a model of Nepal, costing 23 million to build 1 km

POKHARA: Nepal’s model road is about to be built in Pokhara. The road connecting Talchowk to Begnas Lake is the most expensive and is going to be built as a model.

A deal has also been reached to build the road with the World Bank’s financial assistance. Kathmandu-based Swachhand-Sapna-Worldwide JV was awarded the road construction contract.

The contractor has signed a construction contract for 75 million 48 million of the 1 billion 49 million 1.5 million that the World Bank is supposed to invest.

The road’s construction should now be completed in 730 days. The cost of constructing the road was estimated at 45 million 43 million per kilometer by Stimate.

The contract stipulates that more than 23 million will be spent to upgrade each kilometer of road construction. The aforementioned road is regarded as the most expensive project.

The World Bank team returned after observing the road’s construction. The road was being monitored by a team led by Martin Razer, the Bank’s South Asia Vice Chairperson.

The Talchok Begnas road will be 3.28 kilometers long and will have four lanes with green dividers, footpaths, bicycle tracks, and dividers.

This section will include the construction of 5 bridges. The road will have a 1.5 meter wide divider in the middle, 2.5 meter wide parking on both sides, a 1 meter wide green area on both sides, a 2 meter wide footpath above the drain on both sides, and 4 cm thick asphalt.
