Distribution of new bank notes for Dashain begins

KATHMANDU: Rastra Bank began issuing new Dashain notes to the public on Wednesday.

The general public will be able to exchange new notes at Rastra Bank’s Baluwatar branch, as well as banks and financial institutions.

Rastra Bank has announced that distribution of new notes will begin from Sept 18 outside of the valley.

Every year, just before Dashain, the National Bank distributes new, dry notes to the market. This year, preparations have been made to send new notes worth nearly 10 billion rupees.

One person will be able to exchange new notes up to 18 thousand 500 rupees in a pack of 5, 10, 20, 50 and 100 new notes.
