KATHMANDU: The Nepal Rastra Bank began distributing new Dashain notes on Sunday.

The Central Bank has begun issuing new notes from its headquarters in Baluwatar.

Previously, the central bank stated that new notes would be distributed to the general public beginning September 14, but the distribution of new notes began on September 11, according to the bank.

People waited in line at the Central Bank Baluwatar to exchange new notes on Sunday.

According to the Central Bank, this year, a person can exchange new notes worth up to 18 thousand 500 rupees at a rate of 5 to 100 rupees per pack.

The Central Bank, which issued new notes worth 7 billion rupees last year, has stated that it has prepared new notes worth 10 billion rupees this year.

Aside from the Central Bank, other banks and financial institutions have stated that they will begin exchanging new notes for the general public at the start of Ashoj (Sept/Oct).
