Hearing on IGP’s writ today
The problem is being investigated as the debate is not over.
KATHMANDU: The writ petition opposing IGP promotion is being heard today. The final hearing in the writ petition filed by AIG Bishwaraj Pokharel began on June 13 after the government decided to promote Dhiraj Pratap Singh to the post of IGP on May 1.
The problem is being investigated as the debate is not over. The hearing will take place during Chief Justice Deepak Karki and Justice Kumar Chudal’s sitting. With so many supporters, a decision is unlikely to be reached today. Previously, the three DIGs had concluded the debate on June 13.
AIG Pokharel has reached the Supreme Court saying that the government has appointed a junior as IGP. Although he was admitted together, he became AIG 17 months before Pokhrel Singh. Saying that Singh could not accept the IGP, he did not show up at the office even though his leave was denied. His leave ended on the 24th.
He has been on leave since May 2. Pokharel’s leave request was also attached to the misil after Singh instructed him to show up despite his request for leave.
