KATHMANDU: MAY. 31 – Subash Thapa has been named Chief Technology Officer of Fonepay Payment Services Limited, which operates a digital payment system. Thapa was appointed by Fonepay’s board of directors on Tuesday.

Thapa has over 9 years of experience in the financial technology (Fintech) industry, most recently as Head-Product and System Development at Nepal Clearing House Limited. Thapa was also crucial in the implementation of the national payment switch project.

He have been actively involved in business process re-engineering, technology design, solution development, stakeholder awareness and implementation of manual payment process digitization. Thapa, who has a master’s degree in computer applications, also has experience completing the Cambridge FinTech and Regulatory Innovation program from the Cambridge Center for Alternative Finance at Cambridge University.

Payments can be made easily through QR from the mobile apps of any bank and financial institution, and various payment service providers affiliated with the Fonepay network. Fonepay can also handle transactions such as interbank fund transfers, hub payments, and so on. Fonepay Payment Services Limited is a reputable payment system operator in Nepal, licensed by Nepal Rashtra Bank.

Fonepay’s network consists of 60 banks, financial institutions, and payment service providers. Similarly, Fonepay currently has over 670,000 merchants. Fonepay has served over 14 million mobile banking users and payment service providers through mobile apps.
