KATHMANDU: MAY. 24 – The ruling coalition’s candidates are far ahead in Chitwan’s Bharatpur Metropolitan City. The coalition’s mayoral and deputy mayoral candidates secured 50,000 votes.

Approximately 3,000 votes in Bharatpur remain uncounted. When 124,044 votes were counted, Renu Dahal got 50,310 votes and UML’s Bijay Subedi got 38,296 votes. Renu has a 12,014 vote lead.

The ruling coalition’s candidates for the post of deputy mayor Chitrasen Adhikari of the Nepali Congress and Himala Gurung of the UML got 51,129 and 29,882 votes respectively.

There were a total of 185,752 voters in Bharatpur, a total of 127,839 people had cast their votes.
