KATHMANDU: MAY. 14 – The counting of votes for the local level member election began today at 4:15 p.m. in Pokhara Metropolitan City.

An all-party meeting earlier in the day agreed to begin counting votes at 2 p.m., but the counting began two hours later.

The counting has begun, according to Nil Prasad Paneru, Information Officer at the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer. The counting is currently taking place in the hall of the city development committee.

Pokhara Metropolitan City had two lakh seven thousand 712 voters, and one lakh 43 thousand 228 votes were cast.

The main competition is expected to be between Dhanraj Acharya of the ruling coalition’s CPN (Unified Socialists) and Krishna Thapa of the CPN (UML).
