Tension in Tanahun, candidate beaten

KATHMANDU: MAY. 13 – Tensions have risen in Tanahun following the beating of a candidate.

Deepak Raj Joshi, the district’s mayoral candidate for Byas Municipality, was beaten.

While inspecting a polling station in Byas Municipality-8, he was beaten by Nepali Congress cadres. He sustained head injuries.

Deepak, the son of former Nepali Congress leader Govinda Raj Joshi, has been nominated as mayor with the support of the CPN-UML.
