KATHMANDU: MAY. 11 – Imports from Rasuwagadhi have been halted until the upcoming local elections.
According to Chief District Officer Nawaraj Jaisi, imports of goods have been halted as part of an agreement to close the Nepal-China border completely until the local level election is completed.
According to the Border Security Post, 13 large trailers of readymade and hydro materials were imported on Tuesday.
According to reports, the import of goods was halted 72 hours before the polling time, in accordance with the standard procedure for halting movement from the international border.
Chinese drivers have been taking Rasuwagadhi to closed checkpoints unilaterally since the beginning of the COVID-19 infection.
According to Bharat Adhikari, Information Officer at Rasuwagadhi Customs Office in Timure, the customs clearance process has been delayed for a few days as the majority of the staff has been mobilized for the election.
