KATHMANDU: FEB. 13 – With the risk of the third wave of COVID-19 increasing, closed educational institutions, nightclubs, restaurants, dance bars, and other businesses are reopening today in accordance with health and safety regulations.

According to the COVID-19 Health Crisis Management Coordination Center’s (CCMC) recommendations, public health and safety standards are being implemented in night businesses such as dance bars, dohori, dance halls, lounges, pubs, clubs, night halls, cinema halls, health clubs, gym halls, swimming pools, and futsal.

Last week, the CCMC recommended the Ministries of Culture, Tourism, Civil Aviation, and Home Affairs to conduct universities, schools, tuition centers, training, and other types of educational activities in accordance with public health and safety standards beginning today.

The CCMC had recommended to the Ministry of Home Affairs and Education, Science and Technology to make arrangements for the regular operation of students who have completed 12 years of age and rotation of classes for students under 12 years of age.

Similarly, it has been suggested that the sports program be run in such a way that only half of the total spectator capacity is present at any given time, in accordance with public health standards and international rules of the respective sports.
