Distribution of electronic passports started from Nepali Embassy in Malaysia
KATHMANDU: FEB. 9 – On Wednesday, the Nepali Embassy in Malaysia started live enrollment for electronic passports in the middle of a program. According to the Nepali Embassy in Malaysia, the work has begun by enrolling Shyam Kumar Chaudhary, who works in Malaysia in connection with foreign employment, in the passport renewal procedure.
His passport has been successfully tested by printing it from the passport department.
On the first day, the embassy accepted live enrollment for the renewal of 33 people’s passports. According to the embassy, the service will be provided to a limited number of service recipients via online booking for the first week, followed by regular issuance of an electronic passport.
The department also stated that the embassy and passport department will provide information about this on their websites and on Facebook.
Dornath Aryal, Director General of Passport Department from Nepal participated in the electronic passport launch program through the virtual medium. Also present at the event were Moti Bahadur Shrees, staff of the Embassy, Alvin Chai Program Director of IDEMIA Company, representatives of various organizations including Non-Resident Nepali Association working in Malaysia and clients.
Acting Ambassador Moti Bahadur Shrees expressed his commitment to managing the service delivery stations in a way that would facilitate the management of service recipients on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Aryal, the Director-General of the Passport Department, expressed gratitude to the Nepali Embassy family for issuing electronic passports as soon as the devices arrived. Aryal congratulated Nepalis in Malaysia and stated that only electronic passports would be issued from Malaysia, and that machine passport would not be issued.
