Ruling coalition collapses in State 1, UML’s Sherpa wins, Basnet and Baral gets equal votes

BIRATNAGAR: JAN. 26 – Sonam Gyalgen Sherpa, a CPN-UML candidate, was elected to the National Assembly from State-1. Hemraj Rai, a coalition candidate, got just 4,386 votes while he got 4,752 votes from the minority quota.

Despite the coalition’s majority, Rai received fewer votes.

Similarly, the ruling coalition candidate Gopal Basnet and UML’s Guru Baral got equal votes. Both candidates received 4,488 votes, according to the Election Committee. Preparations are underway to select the round’s winner.

According to the ruling coalition’s leaders, the UML candidate was elected by the coalition’s people’s representatives and MPs in State 1.

The result is still to be revealed.
