KATHMANDU: JAN. 20 – The ruling coalition’s high-level political coordination committee meeting has been postponed. Due to Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba’s busy schedule, the committee’s meeting set for 4 p.m. on Thursday has been postponed, according to a member of the committee.

The agenda for today’s meeting included topics such as local elections. There is no consensus in the coalition on whether to hold local elections before the House of Representatives. Along with committee coordinator Ram Chandra Padel, leaders including UCPN (Maoist) Central Committee Chairperson Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ and UCPN (Maoist) Chairperson Madhav Kumar Nepal are in favor of holding the House of Representatives election before the local level.

Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba, who is also the Prime Minister, said that local elections should be held first.
