Ministry decides to close schools till Jan 29

KATHMANDU: JAN. 10 – The Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology has decided to keep the school closed until January 29. According to Dhan Bahadur Shrestha, the ministry’s information officer, the issue of closing the school had been addressed at one point.

He stated that a press release with official information about the decision will be published by this evening. “There has been talk of closing the school,” he said. This evening, a formal statement will be published, and the ministry will make a decision based on the CCMC’s recommendation.

A meeting of the COVID-19 Crisis Management Coordination Center (CCMC) held on Sunday had recommended the government to close the school by Jan 29. Lately, the graph of coronavirus infection in Nepal has been rising. The CCMC has appealed for caution as the new variant of the coronavirus, Omicron, is at increased risk of infection.
