Flight halted due to low visibility in Kathmandu
KATHMANDU: DEC. 31 – Visibility in Kathmandu has been limited due to dense fog. After the visibility dropped to 100 meters, flights could not be operated at Tribhuvan International Airport.
Normally, 3,000 meters of visibility is necessary for the flight, but the plane was unable to land after visibility falls to 100 meters. Internal and external flights could not be operated owing to poor visibility, according to Tribhuvan Airport sources. According to sources, two Jazeera Airways planes from Kuwait were flying over Simara.
Since Friday morning, dense fog and mist have prevailed over the country, according to the Weather Forecast Division. The western low-pressure system and the influence of the low-pressure area around the eastern part of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar in India have also caused fog.
