Mass marriage of 22 couples held at Janaki temple
JANAKPUR: DEC. 10 – A mass wedding of 22 couples was held at Janaki temple in Janakpurdham of Dhanusha district on Thursday evening. Twenty-two couples from different districts including Dhanusha, Siraha, Saptari and Mahottari were married in a mass marriage program organized by the World Hindu Council Nepal at the Janaki temple premises.
Santosh Kumar Sah, a chairperson of the World Hindu Council Nepal Dhanusha, informed that couples of different castes were married in a mass marriage ceremony held at the temple premises immediately after the Sitaram Wedding Panchami Festival.
Chairperson Sah said that the mass wedding ceremony was organized with the objective of developing and promoting tourism along with promoting the Janaki Temple in Janakpur as a famous wedding venue in the world.
Minister for Industry, Tourism, Forest and Environment of State 2 Shatrudhan Mahato, Chief of Janakpurdham Sub-Metropolitan City Lal Kishor Sah, Mahantha Ramat Peshwor Das Vaishnav of Janaki Mandir and others wished the newlyweds a happy married life.
Bishwa Hindu Parishad Nepal has been conducting mass wedding program in Janakpurdham for the past four years. Due to the coronavirus infection last year, mass weddings could not be held.
