HETAUDA: SEPT. 30 – The Ministry of Physical Infrastructure Development of Bagmati Pradesh has stated that the regulations have been implemented as per the Transport Management Act 2075 BS. It is stated that there is a problem in determining the fare of public transport due to lack of regulations.

Ministry spokesperson Nabin Kumar Singh said that the fare adjustment would be done on the basis of the rules and regulations and the decision of the Council of Ministers. He said that the final result of the fare adjustment is yet to come.

Dolnath Khanal, president of the Federation of Public Transport, informed that the transport businessmen have been in trouble since 2070 BS due to non-adjustment of fares. He said that in 2065 BS, the government brought a scientific rent policy after conducting research for six months, but the work was implemented for five years and remained stable.

He said there was only a 35 percent chance of a rise or fall in fares due to petroleum products and 65 percent other reasons.

Chairman Khanal said that various aspects will be studied in the fare adjustment. The subjects to be studied include the price of the vehicle, interest, driver’s remuneration, and the price of various parts of the vehicle. Although the federal government has increased the fare of the outer state by 28 percent, there has been no adjustment within the state, said Chairman Khanal.

Raju Poudel, a transport businessman from Hetauda, says that the fare will increase soon and will get relief. He estimates that his business, which depends on the means of transportation, can now make a small profit.

The fare has been stable for nine years. Saroj Khanal, manager of the old Narayani Transport Entrepreneurs’ Association, said that they could not transport at the old fare.
