Congress leader Mahato passes away
KATHMANDU: SEPT. 12 – Far West Nepali Congress Kailali district leader Man Bahadur Mahato has died at the age of 74. Mahasamiti, a resident of Lamkichuha Municipality-9, Kailali, died this morning while undergoing treatment at Kohalpur Medical College.
He was rushed to the medical college for treatment after he suddenly developed chest pain due to high blood pressure. He has been involved in the politics of the Congress since the Panchayat period and was a popular and loyal leader of the Kailali Congress.
Congress leader Ram Janam Chaudhary said that he was an important member of the then Constituent Assembly in the movement for the establishment and restoration of democracy in Nepal under the leadership of the Congress.
He is survived by his wife, three sons and three daughters. Mahato’s last rites will be performed at Sonpurghat on the banks of Patharaiya river today, said Bhakta Thapa, regional president of the Nepali Congress.
