Postage stamp sale of the Nyatapola Temple built by France on eBay
KATHMANDU: SEPT. 3 – France had made a postage stamp for the Nyatapola Temple in Nepal. The temple built by Bhupatindra Malla in Bhaktapur was included in the postage stamp of France in 1991.
The postage stamp was introduced by France on November 23, 1991, according to Colnet.com. The same ticket is now on sale on the American e-commerce site eBay.com. It is priced at $1.27 (current exchange rate of Rs 147).
Tickets on eBay.com have not been sold, while eBay’s UK outlet eBay.com on the UK has sold out two months ago on June 19.
France is the fourth country to establish diplomatic relations with Nepal. It has been 72 years since the establishment of formal relations between Nepal and France. After World War II, formal diplomatic relations were established between Nepal and France on April 20, 1949.
Of course, Jung Bahadur Ranas visit to Britain and France in 1850-51 also had a similar relationship. However, the 1949 relationship is considered formal and official.
