One ward, one park in Kathmandu metropolis [With Video]
KATHMANDU: AUGUST 9 – Chief of the Kathmandu Metropolitan City Bidya Sundar Shakya has said that the city has moved ahead as per the policy of one ward one park. Laying the foundation stone of Narabuddha Park in Handigaun of Ward No. 5 on Saturday, Chief Shakya said that the foundation stone of Narabuddha Park was laid as per the policy of One Ward One Park taken by the Kathmandu Metropolitan City.
Chief Shakya said that the Kathmandu Metropolitan City has so far started the construction of about 70 parks. “The Kathmandu Metropolitan City has given priority to the construction of parks while protecting public lands,” said Shakya. There are some big wards, some small wards and some wards without public land. There are also wards with a lot of public lands. There are also 10/12 parks in some wards. There is only one in a ward. ‘
He said that along with the construction of the park, the campaign of heritage building and reconstruction has been given priority. He said, “We will take the responsibility of making it, it will be managed by the locals.” We are on a mission to make Kathmandu beautiful. ‘ Speaking on the occasion, Bagmati MP Narayan Silwal said that the area from Handigaun to Kapan Nilopul is planned to be developed as a parking hub. Kathmandu Metropolitan City Deputy Chief Hari Prabha Khadgi (Shrestha) said that the corporation is continuing its campaign to build parks and maintain greenery. Ward Chairman Ramesh Dangol said that he was happy to be able to move ahead with the construction of the park while protecting the land that the land mafia was trying to capture.
The cost of the park to be constructed in an area of about seven ropanis is Rs 14.8 million, according to the Kathmandu Metropolitan City. The park will have four doors, large and small, of artistic design, and will have a shade with trees to relax. In the same way, there will be chautars (a rest stop) with thatched roofs for rest.
The park will have a field with greenery and a pond with a 15-foot round fountain. Arrangements have also been made in the park design for roads and open spaces for exercise and walking. The corporation has also informed that there is a plan to place a statue of Buddha of Abhayamudra in the old and disabled-friendly park.
