The Red Cross and Coca-Cola are supporting the health sector and the vaccination campaign

KATHMANDU: AUGUST 9 – The Nepal Red Cross Society (NRCS) has partnered with the Coca-Cola Foundation to increase the safety of frontline health workers and volunteers assisting patients during the COVID-19 epidemic.
The partnership aims to mobilize NRCS volunteers at Government of Nepal-led vaccination centers and provide transportation facilities for people with physical disabilities to be vaccinated.
The handover ceremony was held at the Teaching Hospital in Maharajgunj on August 5. Dr Manita Rajkarnikar, Director of NRCS Health Services Department and representatives of Coca-Cola Nepal visited the Teaching Hospital. The security equipment was handed over to Ramesh Maharnank.
As part of the partnership project, personal safety items have been distributed to health professionals from Teaching Hospital, Armed Forces of Balambu, Patan Hospital, Janamaitri Hospital and Nepal Medical Association. The distribution includes 12,500 surgical masks, 5,000 pairs of gloves, and 960 sanitizer.
In addition, a joint initiative has been launched in 10 districts across Nepal. More than 31,000 beneficiaries have already reached the vaccination centers run by the Government of Nepal.
The campaign has been carried out in Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, Lalitpur, Chitwan and Bagmati states of Dhading districts as well as East Nawalparasi districts of Kaski, Tanahun, Gorkha, Lamjung and Gandaki states.
Nepal Red Cross blood transfusion service technicians, health workers, and ambulances have also been part of the beneficiaries receiving support materials.
