Sonia gets wild card

KATHMANDU: JUNE 25 – Nepali judo player Sonia Bhatta has received a wild card for the Olympic Games to be held in Japan from next month.

According to the Nepal Olympic Committee, Bhatta, who won a bronze medal in the 13th South Asian Games (SAGS), has received a wild card for the Tokyo Olympics. Sonia had won a gold medal in the eighth National Games.

The competition will be held in Tokyo, Japan from July 23 to August 8. The number of Nepali athletes participating in the Tokyo Olympics has now reached five. Earlier, Kalpana Pariyar of Shooting had received a wild card.

Gaurika Singh and Alex Shah of swimming and Gopichandra Parki of marathon have already decided to play in the Olympics.
