Relief to one lakh 70 thousand by NRNA

KATHMANDU: SUNDAY, APRIL 4, 2021 – The Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) has provided relief to around 170,000 Nepalis from different countries who are facing problems due to COVID-19.

It is stated that relief has been distributed to Nepalis living in more than 300 cities of 50 countries by making public the rescue and relief details initiated by the association after the Covid-19 epidemic.

According to the union, 324 PCR tests and 217 partial air tickets have been arranged for the repatriated Nepali workers.

According to the association, assistance received from international bodies has been spent for women who have lost their jobs, forced to return home due to common mistakes, women, people with disabilities, the sick and people with special needs.

The union had launched special relief and rescue operations in countries including Malaysia, Qatar, United Arab Emirates (UAE), Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait and Oman, which have a large number of Nepali workers.

Speaking at a virtual press conference, Kumar Pant, president of the association, said that in collaboration with the government of Nepal, food and accommodation arrangements, partial air tickets for repatriation and PCR services, mental health counseling services and assistance to Nepalis in health problems have been provided.

Dr. Hemraj Sharma, General Secretary of the Association, said that more than 200 Nepali doctors have been mobilized all over the world with special focus on the mental health that can be seen behind Covid-19.

Experienced health workers and physicians have been deployed in the United States, the United Kingdom, the European region, the Middle East, the African region and the Asia-Pacific region, the association said.
