The United States has recovered three stolen ancient statues

KATHMANDU: FRIDAY, APRIL 2, 2021 – The US government has handed over three missing ancient statues to Nepal. Statues of Ganesha and Buddha seated and a statue of a fairy carved in wood has been handed over.

Representatives of the New York Attorney’s Office handed over the statues to Nepal’s acting Consul General in New York, Bishnu Prasad Gautam.

The idols were recovered and handed over to Nepal in accordance with the US government’s policy of returning the idols to their rightful owners with the help of the US Department of Homeland Security and security agencies. The statues have been handed over to Nepal after completing four years of research and legal process.

Expressing its heartfelt gratitude to the US Government and all concerned for handing over the lost antiques, Nepal expressed confidence that all would continue to support such good deeds in the future as well. The handed over idols will be sent to Nepal as soon as possible.
