Arrangement of lunch in community schools

PARBAT: FRIDAY, APRIL 2, 2021 – Lunch program has been started in 288 community schools of Parbat. After getting lunch at the school, the students’ attraction towards the school has increased and their studies have also started to improve.

With the financial support of the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, lunch program has been started in 288 community schools of 61 wards in seven local levels of the district. It has been claimed that after the children get lunch at the school in the afternoon, their attraction towards the school has increased and there has been a significant improvement in their studies.

Nisha Adhikari, a class 5 student of Mahendra Jyoti Secondary School Lunkhu Mahashila Municipality-5 of the district, said, “I have to come to school in a hurry in the morning and start getting hungry at lunch time. It has become easier to have lunch. ‘

Gopal Prasad Adhikari, principal of the school, said that most of the students who left home after lunch to go home for lunch have started studying the entire subject in the hope of getting lunch at the school. According to him, the amount is coming from the municipality at the rate of 15 per student.

He said that the students used to eat different types of food every day from that amount. According to Mahashila Village Spokesperson Jeevan Uchai Thakuri, the program has been started after the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology sent the money for the school children’s lunch program to the municipality’s account and the municipality has been keeping the money directly in the school’s account.

According to the Education Development and Coordination Unit, Parbat, lunch has started in 288 schools in seven municipalities of the district. According to Uddim Raj Poudel, head of the coordination unit, after the implementation of this program, the number of students who have dropped out of school has also increased and the number of dropouts has decreased significantly. Although the campaign has been launched in all the community schools in the district, there is a challenge as to whether they have been provided quality food or not. Poudel said that the local level and people’s representatives should monitor the school regularly.
