KATHMANDU: MONDAY, MARCH 29, 2021 – The customs department has invited applications for customs agent’s license. The department has invited online applications for customs agent licenses that have not been opened for nearly 20 years. The government is preparing to appoint 660 customs agents.

Those who have fulfilled the required qualifications and criteria can apply through the link of the online application system available on the website of the department. The department has stated that a Nepali citizen should have reached the age of 21 to apply for a customs agent’s license.

Similarly, a graduate or equivalent from a recognized educational institution should have completed at least 3 months of basic computer training. There should be no amount left to be paid by the department to the Government of Nepal and no criminal charges have been proved by the court.

The department has stated that 3,000 fee will be charged on the day of application. The application deadline is Baisakh 5. The department has stated that applications can be submitted up to 12 Baisakh in double fee.

The person selected by the department through written and interview will have to pay Rs 7,000 as customs clearance fee within 90 days of the publication of the results. They will be able to get the permission of the customs agent from the customs department after paying Rs. 7 lakh.

The department has made arrangements to take the integer examination of 100. It will have a multi-answer examination system. According to the department, one hour has been allotted for the 50-question examination. Applicants will pass if they bring 40 marks. Similarly, the department has fixed 20 pass marks for the interview.

As many questions as possible will be asked from all the lessons in the syllabus and 20 percent marks will be deducted for the wrong answer. Similarly, only students selected from the written test will be included in the interview.

According to the syllabus prescribed by the department, for the written examination, questions of 40 marks from International Trade and Customs Process, 30 marks from information related to Nepali law, 20 marks from customs related subjects and 10 marks from miscellaneous questions will be asked.
