The country’s largest Suryabinayak vegetable market is in operation
KATHMANDU: WEDNESDAY, MARCH 24, 2021 – Nepal’s largest Suryabinayak green agricultural wholesale market has come into operation at Suryabinayak Sipadol in Bhaktapur. Suryabinayak Municipality-8 Adarsh Sipadol area the market is open in Suryabinayak. The market, which started construction in Falgun 2075 BS, was brought into operation after two years. It is located in an area of 35 ropanis south of Adarsh Bus Stand under Araniko Highway.
The modernly constructed market has two separate entrances and exits. One entrance is connected to the Araniko Highway and the other is connected to the main road to Sipadol. A one-way road has been set up in the agricultural market to avoid traffic jam. There is also parking. Arrangements have been made to transport vegetables to the agricultural market.
Chairman of the market Rakesh Prasai claimed that the largest organized agricultural market in Nepal has been brought into operation with an investment of Rs 320 million. He said that they are preparing to open the market formally starting from the Agriculture Minister in Baisakh.
According to him, fish and meat are yet to be sold in the market. It is planned to promote the market as the most organized market so far.
There are 750 stalls in the market. The market will be open every day from 2 am to 8 pm. Although the main purpose of the market is to buy and sell wholesale, it is also said that retail is for the locals.
There is a commotion in Kalimati Bazaar of Kathmandu as vehicles have to wait till evening to enter the settlement. This is likely to spoil the vegetables. The market has been set up at Sipadol in Bhaktapur to prevent this from happening. All the vegetables coming from this eastern border point can be taken to Kathmandu and other places from this market. The land has been leased for 15 years for the market.
