Selection of Ambika Prasad Poudel as the Director of Nepal Telecom
KATHMANDU: Ambika Prasad Poudel has been elected unopposed as a member of the Board of Directors of Nepal Telecom Company Limited (Nepal Telecom). He has been elected unopposed on behalf of the common share rich. The deadline for nominating candidates for the Board of Directors election was Chaith 5. He was elected unopposed as no candidate other than Poudel was nominated till that term. The general assembly to be held on Chaith 13 will estimate that he has been elected.
For the first time in the 17-year history of the Telecom, Poudel has been elected unopposed as a member of the board of directors on behalf of the general shareholders.
Expressing gratitude to all for electing him as a board member for the first time in the history of the Telecom, Poudel expressed happiness. Poudel, a newly elected board member, said that the Telecom could become the company that pays the most taxes, pays bonuses and gives returns if it manages its capital, accumulated profits and fixed assets properly.
The Telecom government owns 91.49 percent, the general shareholders and employees 8.48 percent and the citizen investment fund 0.03 percent. The company, which has a paid-up capital of Rs 15 billion, has a accumulated profit of more than Rs 78 billion as of 2077 BS. Telecom is the richest company in terms of fixed assets.
