Chemical fertilizer from Bangladesh will reach Birgunj by evening
Birgunj. As per the agreement between the Government of Nepal and the Government of Bangladesh (Government-Government, JTG), the first vaccine chemical fertilizer is expected to arrive in Nepal by this evening. Of the 50,000 metric tonnes of chemical fertilizers purchased from Bangladesh, 2,500 tonnes will arrive in Nepal in the first batch.
According to the Agricultural Ingredients Company, out of 22,500 tonnes of chemical fertilizers brought to Kolkata, 2,500 tonnes of fertilizers will reach Nepal by this evening or Tuesday morning.
Managing Director of the company Netra Bahadur Bhandari informed that the goods brought in 42 coaches from Kolkata will reach Birgunj late on Tuesday morning. According to him, the manure brought by train will reach Birgunj by this evening while the manure brought by truck will reach Biratnagar by Wednesday.
He informed that 250 tonnes of manure was brought to Biratnagar in six trucks from Kolkata last Thursday. Similarly, 2,500 tonnes of manure has already left for Nepal by train today.
In the first lot, the manure coming by train and truck will be kept in the warehouses of the Agricultural Materials Company in Biratnagar, Birgunj and Bhairahawa. Managing Director Bhandari informed that an agreement has been reached with Bangladesh to purchase fertilizer at USD 259.195 per metric tonne. According to him, as per the final agreement to purchase chemical fertilizer from the company, an agreement has been reached with Bangladesh at $18 per metric tonne.
The cabinet meeting held on 24th of Kartik had given approval to the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development to bring manure through G2G. The company was preparing to purchase manure as per the instructions of the ministry.
In preparation, an agreement was reached between the company’s managing director Bhandari and Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation chairman Mohammad Amin-ul-Ahsan to purchase fertilizer through the G2G process. Three and a half months after the agreement was signed, the first batch of manure is about to arrive in Nepal.
The company had handed over the transfer of chemical fertilizer from Bangladesh to Gentrad FZF of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) last Ashoj.
Adequate inventory:
Despite the lack of chemical fertilizer during the paddy sowing season, there is sufficient stock of fertilizer at present. The company and the Salt Trading Corporation have sufficient stocks of chemical fertilizers.
The agricultural company currently has 40,000 metric tonnes of DAP, 7,000 metric tonnes of potash and 10,000 metric tonnes of urea in stock. The stocks purchased by Salt Trading through bids for the current fiscal year are also in sufficient quantity. In the initial stage, the manure of the agricultural company will be sold and distributed, but after the stock of the company runs out, the sale and distribution of the manure purchased by Salt Trading will start.
