Kathmandu. Melamchi water from Sindhupalchowk is reaching Kathmandu through the much awaited Melamchi Drinking Water Project. The Sundarijal water treatment plant of Melamchi project will receive water today.

According to the project’s executive director Tiresh Prasad Khatri, water will fall in Sundarijal between 2 and 4 pm. The project had poured water into a 26-kilometer long tunnel for testing on Falgun 10. Melamchi water coming through the tunnel will be treated at Sundarijal Center and distributed in Kathmandu Valley.

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has decided to inspect the treatment plant after the water reaches Sundarijal. With the arrival of Melamchi water in Kathmandu today, the long wait of the people of Kathmandu for more than three decades is coming to fruition.

The Melamchi project has warned the locals of Kathmandu through public notice that the water level in the Bagmati River may rise after the water reaches Kathmandu through the tunnel. The project has warned the locals not to go near the river from Sundarijal to Balkhu.
