Kathmandu. Gary Phillips of Australia has been appointed as the head coach of the Nepali national women’s football team.

The technical committee of the All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) on Thursday appointed Phillips, former technical director of ANFA, as the head coach of the national women’s football team.

He has been appointed as the head coach for the AFC Asian Cup qualifiers and the SAAF Championship.

After the 13th South Asian Games in Nepal last year, the Nepali national women’s team has become coachless.

Nepal lost to India in the final of the SAG and was limited to runners-up. After the resignation of the then head coach Hari Khadka, the Nepali national women’s team has not played in international competitions.

India has always been a stronghold of the Nepali team in South Asia.

ANFA has stated that it is preparing to call the players of the national team for the coach soon after the appointment of the new coach.
