Former Argentine President Menem dies

Buenos Aires. Former South American President Carlos Menem has died at the age of 90. Local media reported that he died of a heart attack.

He was admitted to Los Arcos Hospital in Buenos Aires a few days ago due to health problems.

Mr Carlos served as President of Argentina from 1989 to 1999. He has also been a member of the Senate from La Rioja since 2005.

President Alberto Fernandez lamented the death of former President Menem, saying that former President Menem has always been a true leader of a nation committed to democracy.
