Corona vaccine reaches Karnali
Karnali. The vaccine against Covid-19 provided by the Government of India has reached Karnali. The 11,780 vaccines sent by the federal government to Karnali through Nepalgunj Cold Store arrived in Surkhet on Monday night.
The state health service directorate has started preparations to start vaccination from Wednesday (tomorrow). The director of the directorate, Dr. Rabin Khadka said that 12 hospitals in Karnali would be vaccinated. According to him, eight district hospitals as well as state hospital in Birendranagar, Mehelkuna Hospital in Surkhet, Karnali Institute of Health Sciences in Jumla and Chaurjahari Community Hospital in West Rukum will be vaccinated against corona.
Arrangements have been made to transport vaccines by air from Nepalgunj to Humla, Jumla, Mugu and Dolpa in the Himalayan districts of Karnali and by land from Surkhet in other districts. Director Khadka said that about 24,000 vaccines had arrived in the first phase and the second dose would be given 28 days after the first dose.
The state health directorate has said that in the first phase, health workers, sanitation workers, security personnel, ambulance drivers and women health volunteers will be vaccinated.
According to the latest data from the Health Services Division of the Ministry of Social Development, 96,936 PCR tests have been conducted in Karnali so far. Of them, corona infection has been confirmed in 7,495 people and 29 people have died. Rasas
