16 fall sick after pork feast

KATHMANDU: Sixteen people have fallen sick in Nawalparasi (East) after consuming pork during a community feast held in Kawasoti Municipality–14, Hegouli.

The incident occurred when 105 households in the village jointly prepared and consumed pork on the 23rd of the month.

Shortly after eating the meat, 16 individuals, including 44-year-old Ramkumari Mahato, developed symptoms such as fever, vomiting, and diarrhea.

The affected individuals were taken to Madhyabindu Provincial Hospital in Danda with the assistance of local police, where they are currently receiving treatment.

Authorities are monitoring the situation.
